Discover Bexar Blooms’ Inaugural Citywide Activation Sites

Bexar Blooms proudly announces the activation sites for its inaugural year, transforming iconic San Antonio locations into vibrant bluebonnet destinations that blend public art, culture, education, and community celebration. From downtown parks and the River Walk to cultural institutions, local businesses, schools, and nonprofits, Bexar Blooms invites residents and visitors alike to experience spring in a uniquely San Antonio way.

Bexar Blooms HQ - Travis Park

Presented by Centro San Antonio and Texas Spine Care Center

Opens April 3

Travis Park will transform into a striking field of bluebonnets featuring large-scale art installations for one of the most unique bluebonnet experiences in the city. Local vendors will be onsite.

Hops and Hounds at River North

BLUEBONNET VIEWING PARTY – SATURDAY MARCH 28 @ 2PM

March kicks off with food trucks and drink specials, followed by April activations featuring local vendors set within their River Walk bluebonnet field. Visitors are encouraged to snap bluebonnet photos with their dogs.

San Antonio Zoo

Guests will find three distinctive bluebonnet photo opportunities throughout the zoo, including at the iconic lion statues at the entrance and a special surprise featuring the zoo’s newest residents—the gorillas.

San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA)

Bexar Blooms will be integrated into SAMA’s programming throughout April:
  • April 8: Kids’ Studio Bluebonnets
  • Tuesday, April 14: Off the Wall Tour: A Bit About BlueFree for all Bexar County residents, featuring celebrated bluebonnet artwork, including works by Julian Onderdonk—often called the “father of Texas painting.” His painting Bluebonnets Near San Antonio, once displayed in the White House, is currently on view at SAMA.
  • Admission stickers will feature bluebonnets, and live bluebonnets will bloom along the River Walk in front of the museum, creating a perfect SAMA-branded Instagram moment.

Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen

Expect immersive bluebonnet art installations, a signature Bluebonnet Potion drink special, and additional surprises throughout the season.

River House San Antonio

Bluebonnets will line the River Walk, offering photo opportunities with the Fish Bridge art installation and The Pearl in the background. With perfect timing, visitors may even capture the bats emerging from the bridge in their bluebonnet photos.

Cleary Zimmermann Engineers

A Southtown bluebonnet field filled with surprises, featuring food trucks and family-friendly fun.

Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School

The Student Council has planted bluebonnets in front of the school, creating a meaningful photo opportunity for students and families that celebrates both school pride and Lady Bird Johnson’s legacy of beautification.

Metro SA Chamber of Commerce

Safe, accessible bluebonnet and wildflower photo opportunities—away from highways and wildlife—designed for families and visitors alike.
