Bexar Blooms exists to strengthen community connections, encourage stewardship of public spaces, and celebrate the natural heritage of Texas. We fund, plant, and care for bluebonnet and wildflower displays in public and community-accessible locations across Bexar County. By creating dedicated spaces, we help protect roadside wildflowers from damage while giving everyone in San Antonio and beyond beautiful, inclusive alternatives to experience spring’s iconic blue waves.
Each site is intentionally designed to:
Encourage safe, responsible enjoyment of nature
Foster appreciation for our Texas environment
Offer perfect settings for education, family outings, and photography
Build long-term community engagement and stewardship
Bexar Blooms is a San Antonio-based, community-driven effort dedicated to beautifying Bexar County through thoughtful planting and maintenance of bluebonnets and native wildflowers.
We partner with local businesses, property owners, organizations, and volunteers to create accessible, safe, and inviting public spaces filled with vibrant blooms. Our activations turn underused areas into sources of pride, connection, and joy—celebrating San Antonio’s spirit and Texas heritage.
Bexar Blooms started as a creative spark during the design of the Texas Spine Care Center Fiesta 2026 Fiesta Medal. Honoring Fiesta, San Antonio, and Texas culture—with the bluebonnet as the star—ignited an idea: one small bluebonnet photo spot.
That single concept quickly grew, thanks to enthusiastic local partners and property owners who offered spaces. What began as a temporary installation has become a growing network of wildflower activations throughout Bexar County—bringing beauty to neighborhoods citywide.
Keep your eyes on the blooms! If you spot bluebonnets around the city—or at any of our activation sites—share the beauty with us!

“I’ll be honest, I was having an absolute HORRID day up to that point, when we started conversing about the bluebonnets, I lit up.. I hadn’t yet seen them visiting home the past couple times I visited. When you brought them in, I got a little choked up, bluebonnets are home to me & I felt at home in that moment.” -Timothy @stolenconesteveaustin @starbucks at Broadway and Irma

Did you know? 🪻 When Texas chose its state flower in 1901, lawmakers debated between three finalists: the bluebonnet, the prickly pear cactus, and the cotton boll.
The bluebonnet won—and 125 years later we’re still celebrating its beauty across San Antonio.
